Director, Richard Howell, is a Maritime Coastguard Agency/Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster Examiner and Instructor.
He continues to examine candidates on behalf of the MCA/RYA for the Yachtmaster Scheme, and provides sailing instruction at all levels including RYA courses, professional sail training, individual yachtmaster training and family tuition. He is also a RYA Powerboat Instructor and Dinghy Instructor.
He provides shore-based instruction including RYA Day Skipper and Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory, VHF/SRC Radio Courses, and RYA First Aid. He has successfully completed the GMDSS General Operators Certificate, and also the Long Range SSB Radio Operators Certificate.
Having completed a successful 30-year career as a senior police officer, he combined his management, training, and sailing skills to establish his own Yachting Company and RYA Recognised Training Establishment. He is also a director of Smart Teams Ltd. (www.smart-teams.com) providing teamwork training on yachts.
With qualified crew- members and Yachtmaster Instructor skippers now `on the books` he does still believe in retaining that `hands on experience` and continues to deliver a personal service whenever possible.
He provides services to recognised RYA Sea Schools in the UK, Croatia, Gibraltar, Menorca and the Canary Islands. He continues to provide own boat tuition, plus yacht deliveries and is a veteran of European, including the UK, Bay of Biscay, and Mediterranean, waters. He conducts Skippered Charters throughout the worlds leading sailing areas.
He has skippered yachts around England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Belgium, France, Channel Islands, Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Canary Islands, Caribbean Islands, and Sydney & the Whitsunday Islands, Australia.
Our associate skippers are all highly experienced Yachtmaster Examiners or Yachtmaster Instructors with many thousands of miles experience who, having led one previous successful career in the private or public sector, have now transferred their skills and experience into the sailing industry.
